General Motors is an engineering company that was founded in 1908 by William C. Durant and for over a century, has pushed the boundaries of what may be possible through transportation technology and engineering. It has been the first innovators of many aspects of the modern day vehicle, including the development of electric starters, airbags, and mass-production of electric cars. Almost immediately, GM was plagued with a crisis of defective ignition switches.
